Boston Cyberarts Network

Join us for the next festival: April 22 - May 8, 2011

It has been discussed, that the 2009 Boston Cyberarts Festival should have a considerable digital literature presence. This forum is to talk about what form that presence might take. It might be a number of smaller events or perhaps one large one, i.e. a conference / reading or something. Please invite others you think might be helpful in this discussion to join the network and contribute.

George, I think digital literature will be a great part of the Festival. It can help to show the diversity of creative approaches to computing. Conferences, workshops, exhibits, and other manifestations of electronic literature could all work well. At this point, I'm especially interested in helping to make a reading part of the Festival, because that would add a format with a particularly literary heritage to the mix and could welcome different members of the public. And, of course, now that I'm back in the Boston area, I'm eager to try to put on another event as successful as the 2001 Boston T1 Party.
Hi George,
I am back from our Goethe meetings in Chicago. The institutes in San Fransisco and Washington D.C. might be also interested in the "Virtuelle Mauer"-Project by Tamiko Thiel. How should we proceed now? Did you talk to her again? Should I contact her? Do we know which venue to choose for her project?

What about the Digital Literature part? Did you hear about Roberto's conference at Brown. I will have to finalize my plannng for 2009 until August 20th. Should we perhaps meet again or phone? Karin is on vacation and Annette just had her baby, a girl.

We're currently constructing a virtual installation, "Land of Illusion" in Second Life, a multimedia presentation in 3D environment inspired by eastern literature and folk-tales. The VR platform is designed for approaching Chinese classical text and philosophical thinking, which may appear elusive to many readers. While our digital works are rooted in the eastern folklore traditions, we use contemporary art forms and technology to achieve new expressions bridging cultures.
